Off to Strong Start Here, Co. Recovery Team Aims To Stay Ahead

Because flood waters are no longer visible and progress has been made in some areas, people do not understand that there are still many unmet needs waiting to be fulfilled – families continuing to live in hotels, vacant homes, being in transition, trailers sitting abandoned and homes to be built.

“La Grange is far ahead of everybody else in recovery efforts,” said Chris Files during a long term recovery meeting hosted by the Fayette County Disaster Recovery Team (FCDRT). Files is the board president of the Bastrop Long Term Recovery Team and the Disaster Leadership Team.

She compares the Fayette County Disaster Recovery Team (FCDRT ) to the director of an orchestra. The orchestra consists of community members necessary to assist those low-income families who, through no fault of their own, do not have resources to rebuild on their own.
