April 23-30, 1968
Marine Private First Class Robert James “Bobby” Stavinoha lost his life in action in Vietnam on Sun., April 21. PFC Stavinoha, 18, was fatally wounded by hostile rifle fire while on patrol at Quang Nam, Republic of Vietnam. A native of La Grange, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stavinoha, who resided on W. Colorado Street, and a member of the 1967 graduating class of La Grange High School. PFC Stavinoha had been in Vietnam with a rifle company for about two months.
Fayette Electric Cooperative Board of Directors president L. A. Giese of Warda told members and guests at the 30th annual meeting that at the close of 1967 business the co-op’s total assets stood at $2,963,644.
