Nelcine Olga (Minssen) Krebs, 84, of Willow Springs died Sunday, May 6, 2018. Nelcine was born Oct. 4, 1933 in La Grange to Edwin Carl and Olga Née (Kautz) Minssen of Willow Springs. She was baptized Dec. 3, 1933 by Pastor H.C. Poehlmann and confirmed on Sept. 21, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Frelsburg. She graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1951. On April 20, 1952 she married Larry Arno Krebs of Shelby at Trinity Lutheran Church in Frelsburg with a reception held at the E.C. Minssen home in Willow Springs. The wedding dance was held that evening at Harmonie Hall in Shelby. Nelcine began her life with Larry in Washington while he served in the Army during the Korean War. After returning to Willow Springs, she wore many hats such as operating the chicken houses, working at E.C. Minssen Store, taking care of her children and grandchildren over the years. She loved sewing and quilting and would take the time to make quilts for her grandkids and repair any torn clothing. Nelcine loved tending to her flowers. She had fall and spring gardens where she harvested food for the family and enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables. Nelcine spent many hours in the kitchen baking sweet treats for her loves ones. An animal lover, she enjoyed taking care of her cats and kittens. In her free time, she took part in playing card games, playing dominoes (straight and chicken foot), playing bingo, completing word searches, and watching Wheel of Fortune. Nelcine was a loving and supportive parent to three boys: Jerry, Glendale, and Stanley. She enjoyed being at home with them, going to all their sporting events, agriculture projects, and FFA events while they were growing up. With eight grandchildren, she was a busy granny. She loved watching her grandchildren after school and during the summer. They were involved in various sports and livestock projects. She never missed a chance to support them. She was proud to watch her grandchildren graduate high school and college. Nelcine was blessed with ten great-grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Nelcine was a devoted Christian. She rarely missed a Sunday Service and always encouraged her family to attend. She enjoyed cooking for the congregation at Trinity Lutheran Church of Frelsburg. She was involved in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. In recent years, she enjoyed Game Day at church and Senior Citizen Day where she played many games with friends. Nelcine was also an Auxiliary Member of Shelby Fire Department and American Legion of Shelby. Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-laws, Jerry Krebs; Glendale Krebs and wife, Lisa M.; Stanley Krebs and wife, Lisa K. of Willow Springs; grandchildren: Kayla Kaspar and husband, Kory; Dustin Krebs and wife, Jacki; Kim Sodek and husband, Marcus; Blake Krebs and wife, Holly; Jared Krebs and wife, Hannah; Michael Krebs and wife, Katy; Jenna Krebs and fiancé, Bradley Folsom; and Sydney Krebs. Great-grandchildren: Kandon Kaspar, Henley Sodek, Haddie Krebs, Carolina Krebs, Kennedy Kaspar, Delaney Krebs, Maisyn Krebs, Baby Sodek, Johnathan English, and Julie Work; brotherin- law and sister-in-law, Nolan and Genelle Krebs. Nelcine was preceded in death by husband, Larry Arno Krebs; parents, Edwin Minssen and Olga (Kautz) Minssen; daughter in law, Judy (Kieke) Krebs; infant siblings and grandparents. Visitation was held at Knesek Chapel in Fayetteville on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Family received friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Frelsburg with Pastor Glenn E. Hohlt officiating. Burial will follow at the Krebs Cemetery in Willow Springs. Serving as pallbearers are Dustin Krebs, Blake Krebs, Jared Krebs, Michael Krebs, Kory Kaspar, Marcus Sodek, Bradley Folsom, and Roy Eon. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church of Frelsburg, Compassionate Care Hospice of Bellville, Krebs Cemetery Fund, or a charity of one’s choice.
