Marijuana Prescription Doesn't Work for Disorderly Suspect Arrested Here
A former resident of Fayette County is in jail on drug charges stemming from a disturbance on Friday evening, May 11.
Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that some local residents in the Plum area were having a get together Friday evening when a passing motorist came by caused problems by threatening the residents. The homeowners did not know the male subject, who was later identified as 44-year-old Billy Ray Mayo, formerly of La Grange, who now resides in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Korenek said Mayo continued to cause problems when Deputy Daitwan Walker arrived. The male subject continued to be belligerent and was ultimately taken into custody by Walker. Deputy Joe Gonzales then arrived to assist. While inventorying the suspect’s vehicle for impoundment the deputies discovered almost an ounce of marijuana that was next to a bottle of corn liquor.
"Mayo continued to argue his case on the way to jail that he had a legal prescription for the marijuana," Korenek's report stated. "Walker explained that the prescription is not recognized by the State of Texas."
Mayo was booked into the Dan R. Beck Justice Center and charged with the possession of marijuana, disorderly conduct and simple assault by threat.
