Mariam Henniger Norwood

Mariam Henniger Norwood, 90, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 25, 2018. She was born on June 14, 1927 in Fayetteville to Raymond and Emma Henniger. She married Budd Norwood on Dec. 25, 1946 and after 60 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on April 2, 2007. Her son, Stephen Norwood, also preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 2011. Mariam was a devoted homemaker. Her greatest devotion was to her husband and children. Her gift was that of encouraging others. Her daughter said: “She epitomized Proverbs 31: 10-31. She truly was the most virtuous and selfless woman I have ever known. She always put her family and others before herself.” She was always very active in church work. She was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church in New Braunfels, Texas. She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Villella and husband, Don, of Beaver Falls, Penn.; three grandchildren, Jennifer Joseph and husband, Eric, of Beaver Falls, Penn.; Ian Finch and wife Julia, of Lexington, Ky.; and Amy Buckels and husband Chris, of Las Vegas, Nv.; six great-grandchildren, Baylor Joseph of Beaver Falls, Penn.; Henry and Emmett Finch of Lexington, Ky.; and Samuel, Matthew and Kathryn Buckels of Las Vegas, Nv. There will be a memorial service at Connally-Compton Funeral Home in Waco on May 19 at 10 a.m., with a reception to immediately follow. Interment will be at Waco Memorial Park in Waco with a graveside service following the reception. Memorial contributions may be given to Parkinson’s research.
