Sealy Man Arrested for $1.6 Million in Cocaine Found in Big Rig

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Tuesday, May 22, around 10:27 a.m. Drug Interdiction Sgt. Randy Thumann and his K-9 partner “Lobos” stopped an 18 Wheeler pulling a box trailer for traffic violations on Interstate 10 west of Flatonia.

The driver consented to a search of the 18 wheeler. Thumann had Lobos conducted a sweep of the outside of the truck and trailer and Lobos alerted to the rear differential of the truck for presence of illegal narcotics. The 18 wheeler was moved for safety off I-10 to the precinct 3 building in Flatonia, where approximately 16 kilograms of Cocaine, with a street value of $1.6 million, were removed from the rear differential.

Arrested was 55 yr. old Steve Palmer of Sealy, Texas who was transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center and charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.
