County Judge-elect Joe Weber spent a long day picking up campaign signs on Wednesday, May 22.

“I’m tired of looking at all of them, to tell you the truth, it’s time to move on,” he said in an interview with the Record the following day, Thursday, May 23.

Weber beat Fayette County EMS Director Sharon Muzny in the Republican Primary Runoff for Fayette County Judge. The vote was 2,509 to 1,588. There will not be a contested general election in November because no Democrat ran for County Judge. Accordingly, Weber will take office in January 2018.

“I thought it was a great race,” Weber said. “We worked hard, and I know all the candidates worked hard. I thought it was a great campaign run by everybody. It was very respectful and civil. I thought that showed the true colors of Fayette County and the people who want to run for office here. I’m very excited that we won and grateful for the opportunity to serve.”

Weber said he spoke with Muzny on Wednesday following the election.

“She was very gracious,” Weber said. “She said she was going to support me and I told her, ‘Sharon, I’m going to support you, too. You have a very important job in this County and you’ll have my support for sure.’”
