The St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Picnic takes place in Ammannsville this Sunday, June 17. The parish will serve its famous fried chicken and sausage meal begining at 11 a.m. The Moravians and the Ennis Czech Boys will provide musical entertainment throughout the day. Fiddler Paul Schlesinger and his Texas Knights perform this Saturday at the St. Michael's Picnic in Winchester. Schlesinger was recently named as one of the top 5 western swing male vocalists of the year at the 22nd annual Will Rogers Academy of Western Artists awards banquet in March in Fort Worth. Read about Schlesinger on page A3. Below is a video of Schlesinger performing "The Old Fiddle" at Country Fellowship Church in College Station this past Easter.
