Edwin Zively Nimitz, Jr., 89, of Fayetteville, died at his home on Thursday night, June 14, 2018. Edwin was born in San Angelo, on April 18, 1929 to Edwin Zively Nimitz, Sr. and Grace (Jarrett) Nimitz. After graduating from high school, Ed joined the Marines and dedicated four years of service. Ed then worked in the oil fields of West Texas before moving to Houston and working for Schlumberger Oil Field Services while attending the University of Houston. Ed met Ann Erdman in 1956 and not long after returned to school attending Texas A&M to attain a degree in Education. Ed and Ann married on June 30, 1961. During his teaching years Ed operated a candy business to supplement their income. After 35 years of teaching in the Houston and Humble school districts, he retired and they permanently moved to Fayetteville in 1987 to continue operating a cattle ranch until 2011. Ed lived every minute of life and was very active in the communities in which he lived, including the Lions Club, the Masons, the Shriners, and several booster clubs associated with Humble High School. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fayetteville. Ed is survived by his wife, Ann, son Edwin (Easy) Nimitz, III, a sister Theresa Cunningham of Greenville, South Carolina, brother-in-law Fred Erdman Jr., sister-in-law Billie Adams and husband Keith, and several nieces and nephews. A Masonic grave side service will be held in San Angelo at a date to be determined. There will be a celebration of life June 23, 2018 at Heh, Remember When, located at 3031 FM 1291, Fayetteville, Texas 78940, from 3 to 8 p.m. Memorials can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 201 N.
