In 1967, dairy farming in Fayette County continued to follow a 15-year nationwide trend. Although the county had lost dairymen every year, those remaining produced almost as much or more than those in past years. According to the Fayette County Dairy Association, annual income from raw milk sales was $2.75 million, compared to $2.8 million for 1966. The total number of county dairies was down from 225 in 1966 to 197 in 1967. That included 122 Grade A and 75 Grade B dairies in 1966, compared to 135 and 90 in 1967.
