Owen

Roger Kendall Owen, 97, of La Grange, died June 28, 2018. Roger was born at home near Fargo outside Vernon on March 29, 1921, the son of Roy and Dorothy (Ketchersid) Owen. He married Bennye (Ross) enjoying 69 years of marriage. Roger served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII as a test pilot retiring as a Major. He graduated from Texas Tech in 1948 as an electrical engineer and worked for Southwestern Public Service for 39 years. He then taught in the Business School at Abilene Christian University. Roger served as teacher, deacon and elder in many Churches of Christ across Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, six siblings, and his wife, Bennye. He is survived by two daughters: Ann Hilgers and husband Larry of La Grange and Carol Snelson and husband Dave of Amarillo; two sons: Ken Owen of Austin and David Mark Owen and wife, Dinorah of El Paso.
