Remember when?

June 19-23, 1968

The Texas Highway Department recommended that Highway 71 from the Bastrop-Fayette County  line to I-10 west of Columbus be rebuilt as a four-lane divided road. The proposed project included bypasses around La Grange and Columbus.

The board of trustees of the La Grange Independent School District set the school tax rate for the 1968-69 school year at $1.80 per $100 assessed valuation, an increase of 15¢ over the prior year.
