Remember when?

June 26-30, 1968

When Fayette County Judge Ike Petras was in Washington, D.C., to testify on area poverty and malnutrition before the House Committee on Health, Education and Welfare, 10th District Congressman J. J. Pickle took him to the White House to meet President Lyndon B. Johnson.

Army S/Sgt. Rodger A. Moore, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Moore of Rt. 1, La Grange, received both the Army Commendation and Bronze Star medals for heroism in action against enemy forces in Vietnam. A 1951 graduate of Randolph High School in La Grange and a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, he entered the Army in July 1951 and completed basic training at Camp Roberts, California. While serving in Vietnam, he was with the 25th Infantry Division.
