Kasper

Funeral services for Irene Kasper, 78, of Giddings, were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery. Irene Elizabeth Kasper was born on Aug. 16, 1939 in Winchester to William and Amanda (Reinhardt) Kasper. She died Aug. 2, 2018. Irene attended Immanuel Lutheran School and Giddings High School. She worked at Elkins Variety Store after school and Saturday’s and in 1957 went to work at Pratho’s Department Store. She remained at Pratho’s working as clerk and bookkeeper until the store closed on October 30, 2007, having remained working there for over 50 years. For numerous years she also worked in and enjoyed the family business which consisted of licensed gift items along with many of her embroidered items that were primarily sold in Bastrop, Austin, & San Antonio. Irene had been a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings, both singing in the choir and also enjoyed working Braille for a number of years, and also did volunteer work for the March of Dimes. She absolutely loved her Lhasa Apso’s having had several, Scooby Doo being her latest and they were inseparable. She is survived by a brother, Floyd Kasper of Giddings, and many cousins. Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings was in charge of arrangements.
