Wilbert Frank Palla, 91, of La Grange, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2018. Wilbert was born in the Kovar Community in Bastrop County on Jan. 21, 1927, the son of Charles and Minnie (Teykl) Palla. He married Martha Sedlacek on Sept. 14, 1961 at Sacred Heart Church in La Grange. He served in the U.S. Army. Wilbert worked for Dow Chemical for 10 years. Both he and his wife, Martha, were owners and operators of the Mol- Ric Motel in La Grange for 18 years. He also raised cattle on his farm. Wilbert loved to read military history especially during the WWII era as his twin brothers, Henry and Felix, both served during that time in Europe. He enjoyed watching baseball and his favorite teams were the Houston Astros and the Minnesota Twins. He was blessed to live long enough to see the Houston Astros win the World Series. He is survived by his son, Ray Palla; daughter, Carolyn Palla and brother-in-law, James Wostarek, all of La Grange, Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martha; three brothers: Felix, Henry and Max Palla; two sisters: Della Hajdik and Viola Pokorny; two brothers- in-law, August Hajdik and Joe Pokorny. Visitation was held on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home. Family received friends from 4 to 7 p.m. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Services were held at Sacred Heart Church in La Grange at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018. Burial followed at the La Grange City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church, P.O.
