James Frank Parma Jr.
James Frank Parma Jr. passed away peacefully at Hallettsville Rehabilitation & Nursing Center on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 with his wife, Rose, at his side, after a long battle with cancer. James Frank Parma Jr. was born on Sept. 27, 1935 in Moulton to James Frank Parma Sr. and Clara (Lidiak) Parma. He was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Praha. At an early age, his family moved to Fayetteville, where he graduated from high school in 1954. James graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1959, where he was a member of the Longhorn Band. On Jan. 27, 1963, he married Rose Humplik at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg. They were blessed with two children. He enjoyed gardening, taking care of his pets and cattle, and listening to country/western and polka music. James especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Rose Parma; daughter Tina and husband James Blaschke and grandsons Matthew and Michael Blaschke; son James Gerard Parma and wife Angela and grandchildren James Alfred, Magdalene and Jessica Parma. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Margie and Whitt Cecil and Georgia Ann and Thomas King, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, May 25 at 2 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg, with the Rev. Tim Kosler officiating. Interment was at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Ammannsville. Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arramgements.
