Funeral services for Eldie Voight, 82, of McDade, were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, 2018 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with Rev. Lee Eschberger and Rev. Willard Rother officiating. Burialfollowed in the Paint Creek Cemetery in Paige. Eldie Odies Voight was born on Jan. 21, 1936 in Lee County, the son of Frank August Voight and Frieda Alvina (Domann) Voight. He was united in marriage to Edna Emma Ihlo on April 12, 1958 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in the Paint Creek Community of Bastrop County. He worked numerous jobs including dairy farming for several years before joining Elgin Butler Brick where he was a diesel mechanic for 40 years. Eldie was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Paint Creek and took care of the grounds of the church for many years. He was a member of the Paige Volunteer Fire Department, the Paige Community Center, served on the Paige Water Board, and was a school board member for the Paige School District. Eldie died Monday, Aug. 27, 2018 at Oakland Manor Nursing Center in Giddings. Eldie is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Stephen Kasper of Giddings and Ginger and James Clifford of Lexington; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Ann Chernosky and her husband, Clarence of Dime Box; one sister-in-law, Lillie Voight of McDade; one brother-in-law, Ali Ngiratumrang of Red Oak as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Phillips and Luckey FuneralHome in Giddings was in charge of arrangements.
