Heintschel

Beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Laurie Mae (Poenitzsch) Heintschel, 92, was called to be with the Lord on Sept. 10, 2018. Laurie was born on Aug. 23, 1926, the daughter of Paul and Elizabeth (Horndt) Poenitzsch, in Shaws Bend. She was baptized on Oct. 18, 1926 by Pastor Lindenberg and confirmed on Pentecost day, June 1, 1941 by Pastor W. A. Flaehmeir at the Shaws Bend Lutheran Church. She was a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ellinger. Laurie married Harry J. Heintschel on Oct. 29, 1955 at St. John Lutheran Church in Ellinger with Pastor Raymond Durst officiating. They were married 44 years before he died in 1999. They made their home in Shaw’s Bend and raised a son and a daughter. She loved being a homemaker. She really liked housekeeping, sewing, yard work, and gardening. She raised vegetables, canning and preserving, even in her last years. She enjoyed cooking and baking. She is survived by her son Gerald and wife Patti of Shaws Bend, her daughter Janice of Bellville, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Funeral Services were held Thursday, Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. at Henneke Funeral Home with Pastor Marcia Kifer officiating. Burial was in Brune cemetery in the Shaws Bend community. Memorials may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 8, Ellinger, Texas 78938. Condolences may be left at www.hennekefuneralhome.com.  Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus was in charge of arrangements.
