Zimmermann
Franklin L. Zimmermann was taken to his eternal home when he passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 9, at Schulenburg Regency Nursing Home, at the age of 81. He was born to Frank and Anna Minzenmeyer Zimmermann on Nov. 17, 1936. He graduated from Weimar High School in 1955, where he loved to play football. He married Helen Schneider in Weimar in 1957. They lived in Houston and then in Katy. He worked for Al Parker Buick as service manager for 35 years, where all liked him and appreciated his service. He and Helen had four children: Stanley, Warren, Thomas and Donna. He loved going fishing and hunting with his children. He loved to cook barbecue and did so at work and family gatherings. He and Helen got to travel to many places with his Buick merits. He was gracious and went to the farm in Borden to help his father-in-law with the farming and ranching. When he retired, he moved to the farm and took up the farming and ranching and remodeled the old Schneider home. He and Helen enjoyed living in the country. She became ill and passed away in the Columbus Hospital on Nov. 7, 2003. He later married Virginia Brandt Ulrich on June 3, 2006 in the Holman St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Holman. They enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting deer, dancing and working together on the farm, barbecuing and watching the sunset. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Helen; three brothers, Herbert, Clarence and Charlie Zimmermann; three sisters, Loraine Cotton of Amarillo, Janelle Strakos of Shiner and Louise Thuembler of La Grange; nephew, Herbert Lee Zimmermann and stepdaughter Paula Ulrich Gold of Holman. He is survived by his wife, Virginia of Holman; sons, Stanley Zimmermann and wife Cathy of Katy, Warren Zimmermann and wife Michelle of Sealy, Thomas Zimmermann and wife Angela of Katy, and daughter Donna Stephens and husband Larry of Huber Heights, Ohio. He is also survived by four grandchildren, J. R. Zimmermann of Hernden, Virginia, Danielle Zimmermann of Corpus Christi, Morgan Line and husband Jack of Katy, Tyler Zimmermann and wife Demi of Katy and Phillip Zimmermann and wife Kelly of Katy and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind five stepchildren; 10 step grandchildren; 12 step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A rosary was recited, led by Melanie Ulrich, followed by a Mass celebrated at St. Michael Catholic Church in Weimar on Wednesday, Sept. 12. The lector was Mark Ulrich and presenting the offerings were Diana Mikesky, Eugene Ulrich Jr., Glen Ulrich, Danielle Zimmermann, Morgan Line and Tyler Zimmermann, and communion helper was Roy Ulrich. Pallbearers were Steven Schultz, Michael Laake, Christopher Ulrich, Kevin Ulrich and Travis Ulrich. Burial followed in the St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church in Weimar or a charity of one’s choice.
