Carol Dawn (Obermiller) Seymour, 78, a longtime resident of Fayetteville, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018 in a single car accident while coming home from St. David’s Hospital in Austin. Carol was born in Houston on Jan. 8, 1940, the daughter of William and Myrle (Lewis) Obermiller. On Aug. 6, 1965, she married Fred Seymour of Houston. On Aug. 30, 1955, August 31, 1961 and April 5, 1967, respectively, she welcomed her three sons who were the most important part of her life along with all of her grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews. Carol was a devoted mother and friend. She enjoyed helping others, traveling with family, playing games and visiting with family. She often worked at Second Chance Emporium and was known for being kind and warm-hearted. Carol was a spiritual woman where she served the church in many capacities, including Shared Lutheran Ministry Council and was the President of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA). She will be deeply missed by her friends, family and all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Fred; three sons: Barnett Seymour and wife, Betty Jo; Brian Seymour and wife, Meshell; and Darren Seymour and wife, Natalie; two brothers: Lewis and Lynn Obermiller; six grandchildren: Kristi, Michelle, Savannah, Deliliah, Jace and Jenna; and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service was held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fayetteville at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, 2018 with Pastor Marcia Kifer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 87, Fayetteville, Texas 78940.
