Talitha (Kruse) Gebhard, 95, of the Willow Springs community in Fayetteville passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018 while residing at the Oakland Manor Nursing Center in Giddings. Talitha was born in Willow Springs on September 5, 1923, the daughter of Ben and Hilda (Luetge) Kruse. She was baptized on September 18, 1923 at Haw Creek. Talitha was confirmed April 4, 1955 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top by Rev. Feller. Talitha attended school in Willow Springs. Talitha was united in marriage with Elgin Gebhard on October 23, 1942 in Warrenton, Texas by Rev. Julius Bosshart. Talitha was the last surviving child of Ben and Hilda Kruse. Talitha was a home maker, worked at Bertch’s Meat Market, Festival Hill, and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby. She was a lifetime resident of Fayette County (Willow Springs and Haw Creek communities). She is survived by her son, Chester Gebhard, and wife, Doris of Carmine, TX; one daughter, Shirley Roeder of Port Lavaca, TX; three grandchildren: Kimberley Rinn, and husband, Randy or New Ulm; Paul Roeder; Michael Roeder, and wife, Patty all of Port Lavaca; three great grandchildren: Travis Rinn; Chastity Masson, and husband, Sacha all of New Ulm; and Hunter Roeder of Port Lavaca; two great-great grandchildren: McKenna and Luke Masson of New Ulm; and other special surviving relative, Janet Roeder of Shiner; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Talitha was preceded in death by her husband, Elgin Gebhard; her parents; sisters and brother- in- laws: Una Mae Haney; Minnie and Hilmer Gebhard; Pearly and Quintes Gebhard, Sr.; brother and sister-in-law, Lee Kruse and Irma Kruse; and son-in-law, Milton Roeder. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Koenig- Belvill Knesek Chapel, 207 N. Live Oak, Fayetteville, TX. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Koenig-Belvill Knesek Chapel at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. John David Nedbalek officiating. Interment will follow at Haw Creek Cemetery in Round Top. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Haw Creek Cemetery Association, 8634 Klaus Rd., Round Top, TX 78954; Hospice Brazos Valley, or to a charity of one’s choice.
