Jimmie Ruth Roberts, 84, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, previously of Garland, Texas, Denver, Colorado, and Warda, Texas left for her heavenly home on Friday, August 31, 2018. Jimmie Ruth was born in Ennis, Texas on January 9, 1934 to J.W. McConnico and the former Ruby Phelps Treadaway. She grew up in Alma, Texas with three brothers & a sister, all older. As a child, she overcame polio and went on to graduate from Ennis High School in 1951. Jimmie Ruth married Stanley A. Roberts on Christmas night, 1951 at the Ennis home of Rev. R.C. Fling. Their family was completed with the birth of their son, James. Their home soon became Garland, Texas with Jimmie Ruth becoming employed through the years by the City of Garland Water Department, Southern Methodist University Graduate School of Statistics, and then, after moving to Denver, Colorado in 1972, by Ryder System’s Western Regional Insurance Claims Office, from which she retired after 22 years as Office Manager in 1994. After retirement, she and Stan returned to Texas, trading Littleton and their “place in the mountains” west of Woodland Park, Colorado for East Texas’ Lake Lydia. They moved in 2000 to the acreage (between Giddings and La Grange, Texas) of James, and wife, Sharon. While there Stan died in 2006. Jimmie Ruth remained there with James and Sharon until January 2016 when they all moved to HSV. Her faith played a tremendous role in Jimmie Ruth’s life. She and Stan were part of the founding of three Baptist churches, in Garland, Texas, Denver, Colorado, and Giddings, Texas. Most recently, she was a member of Barcelona Road Baptist Church, HSV. Jimmie Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley A. Roberts; by her parents, J.W. & Ruby McConnico; by three brothers, Charles Woodfin Treadaway, Alan Treadaway, and James H. Treadaway; by a brother- in-law, Dudley Rutledge; and by a nephew, Charles Rutledge. She is survived by son, Rev. James A. Roberts, and wife Sharon, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; by beloved granddaughters, Angela Ortiz and husband, Alberto of Pflugerville, Texas and Deborah Dimmitt, and husband, Neil, Major, U.S.A.F. of College Station, Texas; by five treasured great grandchildren, Sophia and Landon Ortiz, and Riley, Braden, and Colton Dimmitt; by a sister, Avaneil Rutledge of New Braunfels, Texas; by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Mc- Coy of Ennis, Texas; by a niece, Sherry Gilbert and husband, Robert of Humble, Texas; by a nephew D.W. Rutledge, Jr. and wife, Kathy of New Braunfels, Texas; by a nephew, Dr. Larry Treadaway and wife, Mendy of Ennis, Texas; and by numerous other extended family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held October, 20, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home, 3950 E. Austin St., Giddings, TX.
