My Partner in Crime!

In 1959 I was a junior in La Grange High School. One of  my dreaded required subjects was chemistry. The only exciting thing about chemistry to me was when once a week we went to the adjoining room called “the lab”.  There were numerous tables there and about 4-5 students were assigned to each table. There was a book of projects we could choose from to do. Each table had a different project each day we were there. Sometimes, the teacher let us experiment on our own with the many different chemicals available to us. As we worked in the lab, the teacher usually stayed in the adjacent class room and checked test papers, etc.
