Eilers

Joyce Elzabob (Neumann) Eilers, 93, of Carmine, died peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018 in Brenham. Joyce was born in Carmine on Dec. 25, 1924, the daughter of William and Esther (Wagner) Neumann. On July 3, 1943, she married Barney Eilers and they moved to Houston. Barney and Joyce were married for 66 years. During their marriage, they enjoyed traveling with friends and family, joined a dance club, played cards and dominoes with several different groups, active in the Lion’s Club and Chamber of Commerce as well as in their church, Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine. Joyce particularly loved playing volleyball, bowling and any kind of card game especially bridge and canasta, dominoes, bingo, puzzles, and word searches. She loved a challenge and instilled in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren a love of healthy competition. Besides games, Joyce loved needlework and quilting. Best of all, she made wonderful cookies and loved baking with the “grands”. She is survived by daughter, Susan Ray and husband, Daryl; son, Wade Eilers and wife, Nancy; four grandchildren: Rip Ray and wife, Kristen; Ashley Bishop and husband, Mike; Clint Eilers and wife, Stacy; Christy Kelley and husband, Matt; and ten great grandchildren: Mason and Brody Ray; Brenner and Kellen Bishop; Jill and Tess Eilers, Seth, Luke and Ava Ann Kelley. She was preceded in death by her parents; her lifelong love, Barney Eilers. Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 211 Luther Lane, Carmine, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018. Burial will follow at Carmine City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Martin Luther Lutheran Church, P.O.
