Carol Elizabeth Eilers Thompson of Chandler, Ariz. passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, at an assisted living facility in Chandler with husband, Don, and loving family at her side. Carol was born July 28, 1947, in La Grange. She graduated from Shiner High School in Shiner and the Durham Business College, evolving into an executive secretary and accountant. She was very proud to have served as the executive secretary to the president of Texas A&M. Carol moved to Arizona, where she met and married Don on Dec. 29, 1983. She retired as an accountant with Desert Building Materials after many years. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, F.E. Eilers, a longtime Lutheran pastor in southeast Texas; her mother, Erna; and sister Rebekah. She is survived by her beloved husband, Don; her step daughter Donna Thompson Taylor also of Chandler, Ariz.; grandchildren Madison (Chandler), Kai (Chandler), Shannon (Casa Grande), Kelley (Watford City, North Dakota); and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her godson, John Keoni Lincke of La Grange Carol was devoted to her church, Holy Trinity Lutheran in Chandler, and was instrumental in supporting the Luther Hill Camp for youth, founded by her father in La Grange. “Her hobby was helping people and making them feel special,” Don said. She loved puzzles and numbers and dates, associated with major world events and personalities. “I’m sure she is asking St. Peter right now when he was born,” Don mused. A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 739 W. Erie Street, Chandler, Ariz. on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018 at 5:30 pm. Additional services will be held later at her father’s church in Swiss Alp, where her family is buried. The family requests that memorials be directed to the Luther Hill Ministries, P.O.
