Weldon Louis Meinen, 87, of La Grange, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018 in La Grange. Weldon was born in La Grange on June 9, 1931, the son of Louis W. and Emma K. (Wessels) Meinen. Weldon married Charlene (Bruns) Bielss, on Jan. 2, 1983, at Faith Lutheran Church in Austin. He served in the United States Army. After he was honorably discharged from the military, he worked as a maintenance worker for the State of Texas for 18 years and retired. Weldon was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. He was especially proud to offer his service driving veterans to their doctor’s appointments. Weldon was a driver for Road to Recovery for ACS, he was a member of Plum Hermann Sons Life, Fayette County Crime Stoppers, and Purple Angels at St. Mark’s Hospital. Weldon loved dancing and listening to music. He is survived by his wife, Charlene, of La Grange; three sons: Wayne “Frog” Bielss and wife, Ruthie, of Freyburg; Ken Meinen and wife, Kathy, of Spring Branch; Rick Meinen of Temple; one daughter, Sheila Novak and husband, Frank, of Flatonia; five grandchildren: Cheryl James and husband, Grant; Garrett Novak; Carrie Harbers and husband, Jonathan; Hailey Meinen; Timothy Nadeau and wife, Taylor; three great grandchildren: Avery Harbers, Mason Harbers and Weston James. He was preceded in death by his parents; and great grandson, Dakota Novak. Visitation was held on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations. Family received friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral Services were held at St. Peter Lutheran Church, West Point, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018. Burial followed at Prairie Valley Cemetery in Prairie Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Prairie Valley Cemetery, St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hospice Brazos Valley or a charity of one’s choice.
