Nancy Gayle Proske, 61 died Oct. 28, 2018. Her husband Avis Proske, 62, unexpectedly followed her and died Oct. 30, 2018. Visitation was held Friday, Nov. 2, 2018 from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in La Grange. The family received visitors from 5 to 7 p.m.. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in La Grange. Nancy was born in Austin on May 20, 1957 to Oscar Thomas Wylie and Dorothy Inez Blackstock Wylie. She enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, loved animals, going to Matagorda and “garage sailing” with Carol. Nancy was a very caring person and loved her grandchildren dearly. Avis was born in Giddings on Dec. 25, 1955 to Martin Benjamin and Janis Laverne Todd. Avis loved fishing and his dogs. He was really good at cooking barbecue and serving others. The backbone of the family was definitely Avis. Nancy and Avis are survived by three children, Christina Cherry (Wallace), Renee Dawkins (Donnie) and Michael Proske (Lena); sixteen grandchildren, Brittany, Will, Addie, Sofia, Tyler, Austin, Taylor, Andrea, Kayla, Dylan, Laura, Tyler, Madison, Justin, Nathan and Faith; and one great-grandchild, Emmie. They also joined in death their two grandchildren, Brooke Lynn Proske and Christopher Price. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley in La Grange. Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange was in charge of arrangements.
