Marie Sellers entered into her Heavenly Father’s arms on Nov. 6, 2018. She was born to Robert and Mary Murff Hill on Jan. 5, 1935 in Gonzales. She is survived by her daughter Janis Syrinek and husband Robert and son Bobby and wife Kannahi both of Flatonia, granddaughter Amanda Syrinek Castaneda and husband Alex of Flatonia, grandson Jeff Syrinek and wife Melissa of Bastrop and two great grandsons Abel Castaneda and Liam Syrinek. She is also survived by three brothers Robert Hill of Belton, William Hill of Gonzales, Thomas Hill of Leander and one sister Minnie Springs of McKinney. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Elder Hill and one sister Alta Nelson, and her beloved husband of 56 years, Billy Sellers. Marie married Billy Sellers on June 25, 1955. She was a wonderful wife and homemaker for her family and never missed an opportunity to go fishing or to ball games and made every occasion special. She and Billy started their company, Sellers Lease Service, Inc. in 1968. She was the office manager for 40 years. The company is still family owned and operated and celebrating 50 years in business this year. With all the responsibilities of home and business, above all, she made time to serve her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through her church. She was the music director for 35 years at Flatonia Baptist Church. And very involved in the Women’s organization as well as VBS and Sunday School. She loved her church family and was always available to help out where needed. She also led the community choir for many years at the Community Thanksgiving Service and was a faithful volunteer for Sunday afternoon services at the nursing home. Memorials may be made to Flatonia Baptist Church or to one’s choice. Visitation was held at 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 9, 2018 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Flatonia. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 at Flatonia Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Tim Rowell. Burial was held at Elm Grove Cemetery at a later date due to weather.
