Hope Hill: City’s Annexation Process Takes Center Stage

La Grange City Council took a refresher course on annexation and property subdivisions at a meeting last Tuesday, Nov. 13.

Assistant City Manager Frank Menefee gave a presentation on the process following questions from the public and city officials at previous Council meetings. The planned Hope Hill residential development for victims of last year’s Hurricane Harvey flood has generated much interest in the topic.

Menefee said the process usually begins with an inquiry from the person or business interested in developing a piece of property. He said the City will provide that person with a copy of the City ordinance on land use for their review. Menefee said he and others from City Hall will usually meet with the interested party to inform them of the City’s requirements.
