Kalisek
Jerome J. Kalisek, 89, of McHenry, Ill., and formerly of Texas, died on Nov. 19, 2018, at Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital. He was born to Jim and Ella (Holly) Kalisek on Aug. 21, 1929 in West Point. Jerome enlisted in the United States Army in August of 1948 and served his country for six years during the Korean War, earning the rank of Sergeant. Formerly of Texas, Jerome was a resident of McHenry for 38 years. He was employed as a carpenter for R&D Thiel of Palatine for 21 years and retired in 1989. His hobbies included coin collecting and gardening, though he most treasured spending time with his family. He is survived by his children, Judy Kocjan of Albany, NY, Jerome “Jay” Michael of Genoa City, Wis., Jeffrey Kalisek of Tenn., and Joseph Kalisek of Genoa City, Wis.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sisters, Marilyn DeMarco, Elsie Walla, and Jimmie Reese; and his brother, Joseph Kalisek. In addition to his parents, Jerome was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene Kalisek and James Kalisek; and his grandson, Ethan Kalisek. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a funeral blessing at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Rd., McHenry, Ill. 60050. Friends and neighbors may gather in La Grange on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations, 208 W. Pearl St. La Grange, Texas 78945 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by a Holy Rosary at 10 a.m., and the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Vsetin Cemetery in Hallettsville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the McHenry VFW Post #4600 at 3002 W. Route 120, McHenry, Ill. 60050.
