Funeral services for Lorine Bamsch, 95, of Giddings, were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, 2018 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda with Rev. Dennis Tegtmeier officiating. Burial followed in the Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery. Lorine Irene (Mitschke) Bamsch was born on December 7, 1922 in Northrup to Herman and Pauline (Noack) Mitschke. She was baptized on Dec. 10, 1922 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin by Rev. Herman Schmidt. On April 5, 1936, she was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin also by Rev. Herman Schmidt. Her confirmation verse was John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”. Her confirmation hymn was Sei Getreu Bis In Den Tod. Lorine was united in marriage to Walter Bamsch on Dec. 28, 1941 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin by Rev. Herman Schmidt. Lorine and Walter made their home on a farm in the Giddings area. They farmed cotton, corn, peanuts and raised hogs and cattle. Lorine spent many hours working alongside Walter on the farm. She also worked away from the farm and through the years had been employed at Zoch’s Laundry, Koslan’s Furniture, Droemer Industries and the Invader Boat Factory. Lorine was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda, the Lee County Wildlife Association, the Texas Wendish Heritage Society and the Texas German Society Lee County Chapter. She was fluent in three languages, English, German and was one of the few people left who spoke Wendish. A passion in her life was working with quilts and cutting stamps for Lutheran World Relief. She became active with the Lutheran World Relief Sewing Circle in 1995 and was still active through 2017. She spent many leisure hours cutting blocks for quilts at home. She also enjoyed gardening and taking care of her plants, reading, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Lorine went to be with her Lord the afternoon of Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018 at Bec’s Blessing in Giddings having reached the age of 95 years, 11 months and 18 days. Lorine’s earthly life could be summarized in the words of the Apostle Matthew, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord”. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Pauline Mitschke; her husband, Walter Bamsch; her grandson, Brent Bamsch; her son-in-law, John Fenzlein; her two brothers, Albert Mitschke and his wife, Hattie, and Walter Mitschke and his wife, Elsie; her parentsin- law, Henry and Ernestine Bamsch; two brothers-in-law, Gus Bamsch and his wife, Lydia, and Milton Bamsch, and four sisters-in-law, Elsie Mitschke and her husband, Erwin, Louise Proske and her husband, David, Dorine Prellop and her husband, Erwin, and Hermine Melcher and her husband, Ludwig. Lorine is survived by her four children, Dolores Wolf andher husband, Allen of Greens Creek, Ralph Bamsch and his wife, Carolyn of Giddings, Mary Lou Fenzlein of Northrup, and Raymond Bamsch andhis wife, Ann of Warda; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; four great, great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers were Clayton Wolf, Duane Bamsch, Milton Bamsch, Scott Fenzlein, Daniel Bamsch, Austin Mueller and Jared Alford. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church Sewing Circle. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran High School in Warda, Holy Cross Ladies Aid Lutheran World Relief Fund, Bec’s Blessing in Giddings, Resolutions Hospice or to the charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
