When Did I Get Old?
I get out of bed and I hear a loud pop. It came from my knee. Of course, I’m used to my knee making that sound.
Slowly, I walk into the living room. My pace has definitely slowed down over the years. I blame it on not being much of a morning person. I make breakfast, sit down in my recliner and start to watch the news. I look at the dog standing by the door and realize I have to get up from my comfortable position, open the door and let my trusty friend out. But, getting up from the recliner isn’t as easy as it used to be. It’s a chore. And, once I’m up, I don’t take off right away for fear I’m going to fall flat on my face.
What happened? When did I get old? My body isn’t what it used to be. Sometimes, I still feel like I’m back in high school, listening to the Rolling Stones and giggling with my friends. Most of my friends say the same thing. They feel old.
I watch commercials for Medicare and those people on the commercials look so old to me. But, when I look at the mirror, I don’t see an old person or do I?
