Darden

Nelson Darden, 79, of La Grange died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018 at the Heart Hospital of Austin.

He was born June 10, 1939 to Herbert and Ora Bell (Patterson) Darden in Willow Springs. He married Ida Mae (Tutson) Darden on Sept. 4, 1960 in Fayetteville. He was employed as a health inspector at Texas Animal Health Commission and retired after 25 years of service. He also worked for La Grange ISD for 13 years. He was a deacon and member of Big Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Oldenburg.

He is survived by his wife Ida Mae Darden of La Grange, sons Nelson Darden, Jr. and wife Frankie of Troup, Kenneth Darden and wife Tracey of Brenham, Andrew Darden and wife Tabitha of Cibolo; daughters Debra McNeil of La Grange and Yolanda Bostic and husband Carlitos of Frisco; and twin sister, Nancy Scott of Houston.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.

Visitation will take place Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. at Tommy E. Taylor Funeral Home in La Grange.

Funeral Services will be held at Second Baptist Church in La Grange at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 14 with Rev. D. L. Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the La Grange City Cemetery.
