Mayberry

Funeral services for Verna Mayberry, 79, of Ledbetter, were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018 at the Bateman Christian Education Center in Giddings with Rev. Michael D. McClain officiating. Burial followed in the St. Matthew Cemetery in Carmine, Texas.

Verna C. (Guyton) Mayberry entered this world on Feb. 11, 1939 in Washington County. She was the loving daughter of Jerry and Geneva (Lewis) Guyton. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at Post Oak Baptist Church in Ledbetter and attended the Post Oak School. Verna was united in holy matrimony to Lee Arthur Mayberry on Jan. 16, 1987 in Brenham.

God called Verna back to Himself in heaven on Monday, Dec/ 10, 2018 at St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange.

Verna leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband, Lee Arthur Mayberry of Ledbetter; seven devoted children to cherish her memory, Lester Guyton and his wife, Michelle of Houston, Emma Guyton of Giddings, Debra Greene and her husband, Stanley of Ledbetter, Alton Parker Jr. and Norma Morrow of Lexington, Darly “Doris” Parker and his wife, Tina of Jersey Village, Vernon Asagba of Ledbetter, Victor Parker & his wife, Brandy of Bryan, and Lester “Glenn” Guyton Jr. of Bryan; twenty six grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and several great, great grandchildren. Verna is also survived by three sisters, Rue Mae Wilson of Burton, Charles Etta Lewis of Deanville, Madene Guyton of Giddings; two brothers, James Guyton of Austin and David Guyton of Ledbetter, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
