Officials Say Water Quality Issues to Be Resolved Soon

Fayette County Water Control and Improvement District - Monument Hill sent out notices last month informing customers of a water quality violation. However, the water district told the Record this week that a recently-dug well should fix the problem.

“The notice is kind of afterthe-fact,” said Lori Steffek, office manager for Fayette County WCID - Monument Hill.

The notice sent to customers on Dec. 27 says analysis of the district’s water exceeded the maximum contaminant level of trihalomethanes (TTHM). The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency limits TTHMs in a public water supply at 0.080 milligrams per liter. The analysis showed TTHM levels at 0.87 mg/L and 0.0801 mg/L in the Monument Hill water.
