Funeral services for JoAnn Louise Dippel Wagner, 80, were held on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Swiss Alp. She passed away on Jan. 9. Interment followed in the Swiss Alp Lutheran Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were JoAnn’s eight grandsons, Dustin Gonzales, Dillon Henke, Cullen Klesel, Shane Lesikar, Spence Lesikar, Aaron Machac, Tyler Thompson, and Johnathan Wagner.
Honorary pallbearers were JoAnn’s sons, Bill Wagner, Byron Wagner, Bruce Wagner, and Brandon Wagner.
JoAnn was born to Alton and Leone (Ander) Dippel on Sept. 10, 1938 in Round Top. She attended school in La Grange.
JoAnn married Otis N. Wagner on April 10, 1955 in La Grange. Throughout her life, she remained in Fayette County, residing in Fayetteville, La Grange, and Swiss Alp. She worked hard as a farmer’s wife, a housewife, and a convenience store clerk. She is preceded in death by her husband, Otis; her parents, Alton and Leone (Ander) Dippel; two great grandchildren, Max and Madden Machac; four sisters, Alien Schumann, Ira Bell Krause, Josie Mae Jaster, and Lora “Sissy” Janda; and two brothers, Freddie and Onie Dippel.
She is survived by her six daughters, Betty Klesel of Schulenburg, Beverly Machac of Sheridan, Barbara Lesikar of Schulenburg, Becky Gonzales of Cibolo, Bethany Belota of Garwood, and Brittany Wagner of Schulenburg; four sons, William (Bill) D. Wagner of La Grange, Byron Wagner of Swiss Alp, Bruce Wagner of Houston, and Brandon Wagner of Weimar; her brother, Harvey Dippel, and sister-in-law, Joyce Dippel, of La Grange; her sister Verbie Dippel Weiss of Brenham; her sister, Marian “Polly” Dippel Supak, and brother-in-law, Doug Supak, of La Grange; 26 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Schwanke-Baumgarten Funeral Home in Schulenburg. A HONOR ROLL
