Dube

“I know your life on earth was troubled and only you could know the pain. You weren’t afraid to face the devil, you were no stranger to the rain.” Jim Bob Dube was born on April 3, 1968 at the Clinton-Sherman Air Force Base in Burns Flat, Okla. to Bobby and Bonnie (Golleher) Dube. He graduated from Round Top-Carmine High School in 1986 where he had played basketball and baseball. He attended TSTI in Waco following his graduation from high school. Jim Bob was involved in a serious accident in 1987 which changed his life dramatically. Though he eventually healed from his physical injuries, he lived with other lasting effects for the rest of his life. Jim Bob had worked as an exercise rider for Johnny Jones and Dube Training Stables. He was currently employed at Carmine Feed and Fertilizer. He was an active member of the Cowboy Church of Lee County where he was active in almost every aspect of the church. He helped with the church’s building project, assisted at every arena event and never missed a Wednesday evening Bible study. Jim Bob enjoyed working out at the gym, listening to music and fishing occasionally. His greatest loves were the Texas Longhorns, George Strait songs, the Dallas Cowboys, and most importantly, Jesus. Jim Bob died unexpectedly the morning of Monday, January 28, 2019 following a fire at his home in Giddings. It is Jim Bob’s love for Jesus that brings his family comfort knowing that though he may be gone from their sight, he now resides with his Savior in a heavenly mansion. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his aunt, Jo Nimtz; three uncles, Jack Dube, Bob Golleher and Don Golleher, and his cousin, Riley Key. Jim Bob is survived by his parents, Bobby and Bonnie Dube of Giddings; his sister and brother-in-law, Robyn and Lane Jacob of Carmine; his niece, Taylor Jacob of Pilot Point; two nephews, Tanner Jacob and his wife, Brittany of Carmine, and Tucker Jacob of Carmine; two great nephews, Kannon Jacob and Kyler Jacob both of Carmine; his aunts and uncles, Clyde and Becky Maass of Giddings, Dot and Bobby Gene Norred of Kingsland, and Peggy Dube of Giddings, as well as several cousins and numerous friends. A service to celebrate Jim Bob’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, 2019 at the Cowboy Church of Lee County with Kevin Mahr officiating. Burial will follow in the Dube Family Cemetery in Giddings. Serving as pallbearers are Justin Maass, Jeffrey Mikulin, Brian Fischer, Tim Langham, Tanner Jacob, Tucker Jacob, Eugene Hall and Hutton Jones. Memorials may be made to the Cowboy Church of Lee County or to a charity of one’s choice. “So, Go rest high on that mountain, Son, your work on earth is done. Go to heaven a shoutin’, love for the Father and the Son.” Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
