Roberts

Larry Lynn Roberts was born on Sept. 17, 1947 in Nixon to Clarence and Vivian Gilley Roberts. As the sun set Sunday, Jan. 27, Larry passed away surrounded by his beloved family. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Faldyn Roberts; children, Lindsey Lancaster and Landon Roberts; grandchildren, Owen Roberts and Mallory Lancaster; siblings, Christine Anderson and her husband Don, Carol Clark, Ronnie Roberts, Elaine Roberts, sisterin- law Danea Hall, and Joe Roberts and his wife Gloria; mother-in-law, Virginia Faldyn; as well as many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-inlaw, Joe Faldyn, Jr. and sisterin- law, Terry Roberts. He graduated in 1977 with a BA from Southwest Texas State University. He worked the majority of his career as a project manager in the precast concrete manufacturing industry. Larry retired from East Texas Precast in 2012. Larry will be remembered by his quick-wit, sarcasm, love of practical jokes, fierce independence, and his commitment to his family and friends. Whether it be hunting and fishing or playing a round of golf with his buddies, we all knew these were his top priorities, besides Sunday lunch with family. His passion for being in the woods or on the water can be heard through the many stories told and memories shared. He loved reminiscing of his Karnes City Badger glory days and cheering on the Katy Tiger football team. In high school and college, he was known for his athletic ability and competitive spirit. He learned to play golf in his twenties & went on to receive 5 hole-in-ones. He could play a mean game of dominoes, stick, or Uno with family and grandchildren. Regardless of where he was going or whatever he was doing, he would always take the scenic route. We loved Larry in sickness and health, and will always cherish the time and love he gave to us, family, and friends. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019 at the Schmidt Funeral Home Grand Parkway Chapel, in Katy, where funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, with Rev. Wayne Wilkerson officiating. A reception will follow.
