Fay Yvonne Speed, 89, of Houston, passed into eternal rest on Monday, Jan. 28, 2019. Yvonne was married to Raymond Speed for 55 years. Raymond was the love of her life and together they travelled the world from Russia to New Zealand. Yvonne was the cherished mother of two daughters, grandmother of five granddaughters, and great-grandmother of two great-granddaughters. Yvonne displayed an inner strength and determination much larger than her petite stature. She was lovingly referred to as their “Steel Magnolia” by her family. Yvonne was preceded in death by Raymond Speed, her husband, her parents, Nellie Fay and Harvey Horace Morris, her elder brother, Harvey Edward “Bo” Morris, and her younger sister, Bessie Mae “Bet” Morris. She is survived by her two daughters, Julia Faye Speed of Houston and Debra Speed Schwartzenburg and her husband, John Schwartzenburg of Muldoon, five granddaughters, Victoria Russell and her husband Jason Guerrero of Houston, Andrea and Ashley Russell of Houston, Lauren Schwartzenburg of Muldoon, and Michelle Schwartzenburg Mitchell and her husband Tommy Mitchell of West Hamden, Connecticut, and her two great-granddaughters, Juliana and Jocelyn Guerrero of Houston. Yvonne will be sadly missed but her legacy of love and strength of character lives on in those fortunate to have known her. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019 at Navarre Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place in the Chapel of Navarre Funeral Home on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019 at 12:30 p.m., with committal service to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
