Lady Leps Win Playoff Thriller by One Point
In one of the most thrilling La Grange basketball postseason game ever, the Lady Leps were down by one point before Jahze Woods scored with two seconds left to stun Stafford 52-51 Tuesday in a 4A bi-district playoff game in Sealy.
“One of the most exciting games I’ve ever been a part of,” said La Grange girls basketball coach Heath Golan. “And it comes down to these girls not giving up.”
It was the first playoff win for the La Grange girls since 2015 and only the second since 2010. The Lady Leps will now try to become the first since that 2010 team to advance past the second round as La Grange faces Fredericksburg Friday, February 15 at Leander Rouse High School at 6:30 p.m. in the area round.
The margin between marching on in the playoffs and their season ending Tuesday was razor-thin for the Lady Leps (who improved to 17-15).
Things started off so well for La Grange and they built a 16-point lead midway through the second quarter. A threepointer by reserve Lexie Jones (the team’s only senior) put La Grange up 29-13.
