Out And About

Pam Sheffield traveled to watch her granddaughter, Lauren Gale, play in a softball tournament in Seguin last week. Lauren is a freshman in high school in Cuero and plays softball, basketball and track, along with power lifting. Lauren is very athletic and her grandmother is very proud of her accomplishments. The following day, Pam went to Altair to watch Lauren’s older sister, Morgan Gale, compete in a power lifting competition. Morgan is a senior at Cuero High School and has been power lifting for the past two years. She placed first in the Altair competition. Morgan was the coach for her team and has been very instrumental in helping others on her team compete and succeed.

Kathy and Frank Chlumsky enjoyed a visit from their daughter, Jennifer, and her husband, Kenny Dong, who dropped off the grandsons, Conner and Hunter, for a Valentines’ weekend with their grandparents, while they spent it in Austin. The boys enjoyed lots of outdoor fun with the dogs, cows, horses and other critters. They also found some petrified wood and a few bones on their adventures. The boys really enjoyed the country life of running and playing even if the weather wasn’t perfect. They were even treated to a little target shooting before their parents took them back to Houston.

Nada and Ted Burns enjoyed having their son and his wife, Ryan and Megan Burns, and grandson, Luke, travelled in. Joining the younger Burns was Ryan and Megan’s good friend, Michael Herbert, for a weekend in the country. They all drove in from Frisco for some peace and quiet and catch up with the family.

It was good to see Julia Speed back in Muldoon after taking care of her mom in Houston for so long. Julia got to catch up with family and even planted a few pecan trees with sister and brother-in-law, Debra and John Schwartzenburg.

Traffic

There has been an increase in traffic flow on FM 154 due to the continued road work on FM 609. Watch out as you travel through Muldoon as there are more cars and trucks using the roads in the Muldoon area.

Weather

The weather in Muldoon has been a little fickle as of late. There have been a number of foggy, cold, damp days that kept the temperatures down in the 40s and 50s. Then on Wednesday, the sun broke out and helped the temperatures rise into the 60s before going back into the dreary, cloudy, cool pattern once again. More rain is in the forecast at the time of this writing. This type of weather is good for making people sick, so be sure and check on your neighbors.
