Anthony “Anton” Ray Kubesch, 58, of West Point, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019.

Anton was born in Weimar on May 14, 1960, the son of Lewis and Bernice (Kusey) Kubesch. He married Barbara Klesel on May 23, 1981 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Weimar.

Anton entered the police force shortly after graduating, and spent his career proudly serving as a police officer for the Austin Police Department.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Austin Police Retired Officers Association, and was also a firearms instructor.

Anton enjoyed wood working, riding Harley’s, and was a true outdoors man. He was also an avid hunter, and a firearms enthusiast. Anton was even a gifted musician who had a diverse interest in all types of music that he shared with his family and friends. He was committed to being a loving husband, and father. Anton cherished spending time with his family and friends, and will be greatly missed by all.

Anton is survived by his wife, Barbara, of 37 years; sons: Aaron Joseph Kubesch of West Point; and close family friend, Amy Rackley of La Grange; Eric Christopher Kubesch and wife, Blaise, of West Point; sisters: Mary Lou Ideus of Katy; Carolyn Kubesch of Bastrop; brother, Lewis Kubesch, Jr. of Rosenburg; mother-in-law, Lillian Klesel of Weimar; grandson, William Aaron; two nieces; one great nephew; two great nieces; numerous cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law, Lawrence Klesel.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations, 208 W. Pearl St., La Grange. Family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Weimar, at 10 a.m., on Friday, March 1, 2019. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Weimar with full law enforcement honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, St. Jude Children’s Research Center, or to a charity of one’s choice.
