Dorothy Jean (Freudenberg) Koether, 88, of La Grange, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 3, 2019.

Dorothy was born in Prairie Valley on Sept. 15, 1930, the daughter of Gus and Alice (Rabe) Freudenberg. She married Glenn Charles Koether on Jan. 20, 1951 at St Peter’s Lutheran Church of Prairie Valley. She was a lifelong resident of La Grange.

Dorothy and Glenn owned La Grange Farm & Ranch Supply for over 55 years. She was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Group, La Grange Bluebonnet Lions Club, American Legion Auxiliary, La Grange Bowling Leagues, was a Boy Scout Den Mother, and an Adult 4-H Club Leader for Rutersville 4-H.

Dorothy was a member of United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Swiss Alp, taught Sunday school, and was the first female to serve on the Church council at United Evangelical Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Glenn, of 68 years; daughters: Bonnie Sladek and husband, Erwin, Jr.; Sandra Weikel and husband, Jim; Rhonda Koether; son, Don Koether; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Koether, all of La Grange; brother, Edward Lee Freudenberg and wife, Ladell (Hinze) of College Station; sister, Gloria (Freudenberg) Heinrich and husband, Patrick, of La Grange; brother-in-law, Lester Ray Koether and wife, Nan, of Swiss Alp; grandchildren: Brooke Smith and husband, David; Blake and Candace Koether; Brittany Canada and husband, Wes; Jenna Janacek and husband, Ryan; Kara and Ty Koether; Bryan and Deb (Ramirez) Weikel; Philip and Becky Weikel; great-grandchildren: Aiden Koether; Ashtyn and Austin Smith; Ally, Dawson, and Kaitlin Canada; Priscilla Janacek; Marina, Max, Mara, and Anthony Weikel; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law Hobert and Adela Koether; and son, Charles.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations, 208 W. Pearl St., La Grange. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m.

Funeral Services were held at United Evangelical Lutheran Church, Swiss Alp, Texas, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2019. A private burial will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the La Grange Baseball Association, The Swiss Alp Lutheran Heritage Foundation, or to the charity of one’s choice.
