What started as a hobby for local resident, Lisa Raye, has turned into a full time online store. The Purple Dog Vintage (purpledogvintagejewelry.com) will soon celebrate its fifth anniversary. Lisa’s love of vintage jewelry, along with the fun of making her own pieces, led her to open the store in April of 2014. Lisa recalls how her little dog, Poppy, would sit on his purple blanket for hours and watch her as she painstakingly cleaned, polished, and reset rhinestones in her vintage jewelry inventory. Although Poppy passed away in 2018, his memory and spirit live on in the shop that was named after him.

Lisa’s customers love the jewelry from the 1940s-1970s and occasionally 1980s that her store has to offer. They often buy pieces that remind them of items owned by beloved family members. However, some buyers are just pure vintage lovers who know that quality lasts longer in the older pieces. As Lisa has gotten to know her customers, requests for other vintage items have started to come into her email. She now spends her spare time scouring estate sales, antique stores and garage sales for not only old jewelry, but also vintage furs, wedding dresses, wedding veils and household items such as dishes and tea sets. You never know what you might find listed in her website stock.
