Travis Lee Moore, 65, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2019 in Abilene. Travis was born on Sept. 14, 1953 in Houston.

On May 26, 1989 he married Connie Wilson. In 1994, together they moved to La Grange to raise four children together. Although their marriage didn’t work out, they remained friends throughout the years. Travis spent majority of his years in La Grange working as a machinist at Zavoda Manafacturing where he became long time friends with John and Jean Zavoda. He spent most of his weekends fishing on the Zavoda Ranch thereafter. He also became great friends with Dr. Daniel White of La Grange who would take him on many trips to watch the La Grange Leopards play football. He always enjoyed that time with the guys as well.

Travis enjoyed fishing, fast cars, football, spending time with his daughter, and most importantly, his grandkids.

When Travis became too weak to stay on his own, he moved to Abilene with his daughter. There he spent his days doing what he loved and more. He got to go to his grandkids football games, out to eat fried fish at his favorite fish spot, trying out all the new barbecue joints, but most importantly, he got to spend everyday with his two best friends, Cain and Fats. Even in his last few months of being ill with cancer, he didn’t let it stop him from spending the night with his two best buds and building forts on their bunk beds. He was by far the best grandpa ever.

Travis is survived by his daughter, Sammi Jo and her husband Josh Webster, their children: Chris, Kylee, Cain, Chance, Jason, Devin, Kylar, and Caven; one step daughter, Patti Perez, her girls: Daija, Dynasty, and Chyna; two step sons, Ricky and his wife Crystal Perez, their children: Tiana, Diamon, Alyssa, and Jeremiah; and Bo Perez and his son King; a brother, Kenny and his wife Sherry Moore; a sister, Linda and husband Bryan Eldredge; a brother-in-law, Ronnie Mazyn and wife; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Travis is preceded in death by his parents, Loretta (Chrastecky) Moore and Travis Moore; his aunt Muriel Drobina and uncle Joe Drobina, as well his uncle James Moore.

Travis’ only wish was to be cremated and reconnected with the earth. The family will plan a private memorial in Travis’ honor set at a later date.

Donations, flowers, or cards are not requested but can be sent to the family at Girdner Funeral Home in Abilene.
