Saturday Morning Wreck on SH 71 Claims Four Lives

An accident on State Highway 71 early Saturday morning claimed the lives of four people and injured two others.

The wreck happened near McCourt and Sons Equipment west of La Grange around 2 a.m. on April 6. It involved a semi rig and a Dodge van carrying six people. According to an initial report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, both vehicles were heading east when the semi slowed to make a right turn. The Dodge crashed into the rear of the trailer, which was loaded with pipe. 

The DPS report said the deceased included two women ages 65 and 74, a 52-year-old man and a 12-year-old girl. Two other females were injured. The occupants of the van were from Temple and Washington state.
