Helen Jean (Herdejurgen) Slovacek, 76, passed away peacefully on her farm between Fayetteville and Ellinger on Wednesday, April 24, 2019.

Helen was born in Houston on Nov. 4, 1942, the daughter of Roy Herdejurgen and Helen (Wolfe) Herdejurgen.

Helen was a homemaker and worked various jobs in a grocery store, pet store, as a dental assistant and assisted with volunteer work at a hospital. Helen was a listener and would only give advice when asked and you better be ready for the truth. She kept our family’s mental stability together. When asked what should I do she would say: live every day like it is the last and treat other people like you would like to be treated.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, James Slovacek; sons: James Slovacek, Jr. and fiancé, Virginia Grace; Paul Slovacek and wife, Dana; daughters: Kelly Slovacek; and Krystal Bianchino and husband, Albert Harrington; 11 grandchildren; seven step-children; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Herdejurgen; mother, Helen Herdejurgen; and brothers: Ronny and Donny Herdejurgen.

The family will have a Celebration of Life at a future arranged time on their farm.

Family and friends can view and sign the guestbook online at www.lagrangefunerals.com.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations in La Grange.
