Fayetteville Tie Vote Confirmed, Cushing Drops Out

Fayetteville Mayor Stephen Cushing withdrew from the three-way mayor’s, leaving runoff between his two challengers, Carl Marino and Lisa Simpson.

The election on Saturday, May 4, ended with a surprise outcome.

Marino collected the most votes with 81, but failed to win outright since he did not collect at least 50 percent plus one. Simpson and Cushing tied for second place with 43 votes each.
