Phyllis Estelle Bellusci Sutterby,
Phyllis Estelle Bellusci Sutterby, 89, peacefully passed into eternity in the presence of her two daughters on May 13, 2019.
She was born on Dec. 31, 1929 to Francesco Emilio Bellusci and Estelle Krzyzanski in Mount Kisco, N.Y. She graduated from Hendrick Hudson High School in Peekskill, with her classmate and future husband, James Sutterby. After graduation, she worked for her parents and as a bookkeeper for a hotel and an airline, until her children were born. For most of her life, she was a homemaker. She and Jim lived in New York City, Lake Placid, N.Y., Buck Hill Falls, Pa., Washington, Conn. and Naples, Fla. while he had a career as a hotel and club manager at fine hotels. She loved leading Bible studies and prison ministries, and was a talented painter. In their retirement, she and Jim smuggled Bibles into Cuba and China as members of Open Doors, USA.
She is survived by her two daughters, Dr. Linda Patterson and husband Randall of Round Top, and Lisa Boughton and her husband Robert of Farmington Hills, Mich. She leaves four grandchildren: The Rev. Stephanie Patterson Moncrieff and her husband Dr. Scott Moncrieff of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Audra Patterson Farley and her husband Colin Farley of Houston, Julia Patterson of Round Top, and Joel Hartom and his wife Diamond of Waxahachie, and two great-grandchildren: Aria Rose Hartom and Eleanor Anne Moncrieff.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Staff Sergeant Anthony Bellusci in 1975, and her husband in 2005.
The family received visitors at Memorial Oaks Chapel on Wednesday, May 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral Eucharist was held at 1 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 2310 Airline Drive, Brenham on Thursday, May 16. The Rev. Stephen F. Whaley and the Rev. Stephanie Patterson Moncrieff officiated. Private Internment will be in Drawe Cemetery in Round Top. The family wishes to thank the St. Peter’s Pastoral Care team, the Brenham Nursing and Rehab staff for their care and support.

Besetzny
Alvin J. Besetzny, 88, of Schulenburg passed away Saturday, April 27, 2019.
He was born Nov. 4, 1930 to Charles and Ernestine Besetzny. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in St. John.
Alvin joined the Navy on May 3, 1953 and discharged Oct. 4, 1954. He married Gladys Hrncir on July 24, 1956. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and socializing every morning with his coffee buddies.
Alvin is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gladys Hrncir Besetzny. Blessed with three daughters, Sharon Bujnoch and husband Marcus of Schulenburg, Janice Kerzner and husband Walter (Buster) of Hicksville, N.Y., and Arlene Smith and husband Phillip of Pflugerville. Also blessed with four grandchildren, Brent Bujnoch and wife Amber of Schulenburg, Nicole Rerich and husband Brad of Weimar, Justin Kerzner of Studio City, Calif., and Tyler Kerzner of Hicksville, N.Y.; four great-grandaugthers, Madelyn Rerich, Brenley Tatum and Laramie Bujnoch; two sisters, Estelle Valicek of Edna, Jeanette Terrell of Austin; two brothers, Clarence Besetsny and wife Evelyn of Schulenburg and James Besetsny of Victoria.
Visitation began at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 2 with the American Legion and VFW Memorial Services at 6:30 p.m. and the Parish Rosary at 7 p.m. at Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home in Schulenburg.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, May 3 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in St. John. Msgr. John Peters officiated.
Interment at Moravia Catholic Cemetery in Moravia. Full military honors were conducted at the gravesite by Schulenburg VFW and American Legion.
Pallbearers were Brent Bujnoch, Brad Rerich, Justin Kerzner, Tyler Kerzner, Jessie Mendel and David Orsak.
Honorary pallbearers were Gary McBride, Scotty Brossmann, Mark Klesel, Harvey Meyer, Steve Mays, Doug Stewart, William Meyer, Milton Roeder, and Eddie Jones.
