Carmine VFD Feast & Fundraiser Slated for July 21

Carmine VFD
The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department’s regular meeting is on May 23 at 7 p.m.
Mark your calendars for July 21, when the annual Feast and Fundraiser will be held at the Carmine Hall. Donations are being accepted for the auction. Volunteer help for light duty for both Saturday afternoon and Sunday will also be appreciated.

The building committee reports that all permits have been obtained for the new bay and construction will be starting soon.
Thanks to the rain, they have not had recent fire calls.
RT-C School News
The RT-C High School baseball team moved on to the third round of the playoffs after defeating Moulton 10-0 and 9-6. Due to the wet field in La Grange, the games were played at Hallettsville. They played Bartlett on May 16 at Manor High School, and if a third game was needed, it was to be played Saturday at another location.
The Elementary Awards program is on May 21 at 5:30 p.m. and the music concert is on May 22 at 2:30 p.m., both at the elementary school.
The fourth grade through high school music concert was postponed until May 22. The location is the same, The Institute at Festival Hill, at 7 p.m.
May 23 is the last day of classes, with early release at 12:30 p.m. Elementary School will have a field day that morning. High School and eighth grade graduation ceremony will be on May 24 at The Institute at Festival Hill.
La Bahia Cemetery
The La Bahia Cemetery Decoration service will be May 26 at 3 p.m. at the cemetery.
Rebekah Group
The Rebekah Group of Martin Luther Lutheran Church met on May 9 in the Fellowship Hall with 12 members present. They were Carol Carmean, Dianne Sager, Jocie Braun, Colette Wunderlich, Barbara Jacob, Edith Flinn, Cheryl Etzel, Sedalia Ullrich, Joys Baird, Susan Ray, Dianna Gerland and Nancy Eilers.
The group sang “Now Thank We All Our God” for birthday celebrants Jenell Jaster, Edith Flinn and Karen Springer, and for the Bible study, which was led by Susan Ray. The theme was “From Generation to Generation: Two-way blessings.”
The meeting was called to order by Susan Ray, president. The Purpose and Mission statements were recited.
A thank you note was received from Pastor David Tinker and family for the Christmas gift.
For Mission Action, Dianne Sager and Carol Carmean reported that we are collecting fabric and thread for kits for Lutheran World Relief. A.M.E.N. bags and envelopes will be handed out over the next two Sundays. Ladies are needed to tack quilts. The next quilting date was May 13. There are 15 quilts currently ready for Camp For All, and we hope to finish another 8 to 10.
For Mission Community, Sedalia Ullrich reported that the birthday party at Bec’s Blessing in Giddings was on May 14 at 2:30 p.m. and ladies have signed up for food.
For Mission Growth, Joys Baird reported that plans for the songs for the WELCA banquet have been made. Children will sing and also a group of women. Social hour begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by the meal at 7 p.m. on June 5. The date for decorating is June 4 at 3 p.m.
The MLLC unit had a total of 53 boxes for Lutheran World Relief, which were taken to Zionsville by Brick Peele on April
22. Included were 53 quilts, 19 blankets, 110 school kits, 72 personal care kits, 25 baby care kits and 15 fabric kits.
The Brazos Cluster Spring Gathering was hosted by MLLC on April 27. A total of 28 ladies attended the meeting.
The group will donate $500 to Sunday School for Vacation Bible School.
Jocie Braun gave the offering meditation.
The meeting adjourned with the Lord’s Prayer, followed by the singing of the table prayer.
Hostesses were Carol Carmean and Edith Flinn.
Historical Committee Meeting
The next session of the Historical Committee of the Carmine Chamber of Commerce is set for June 5 at 10 a.m. in the museum.
Questions of locations of early structures will be discussed. A timeline of events from 1871-2000 will be attempted. Bring any history material to help with dates.
All persons interested in the history of the area are invited.
MLLC WELCA Banquet
Martin Luther Lutheran Church Women of the ELCA Banquet will be held on Wednesday, June 5, in the Fellowship Hall. Social time begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by the meal served at 7 p.m. The theme is “In the Garden.”
MLLC VBS
Vacation Bible School at MLLC is scheduled for June 9 through 13, from 5:30 until 7:45 p.m. The theme is “Roar: Life is Wild, God is Good.” To inquire about registration, call the church office at (979) 278-3388.
Casino Night
Mark your calendars for the Carmine Chamber of Commerce Casino Night, which will be held on Saturday, August 10. Kristyn Harris (www.kristynharris.com) has been booked as the entertainment. MLLC News
Saturday worship with Holy Communion and Baptism Remembrance is at 6 p.m.
Tone Chimes practice Sunday at 8:30 a.m. and play during the service.
Sunday School and Adult Bible study are Sunday at 9 a.m. Hymn sing begins at 9:45 a.m. Worship with Holy Communion, observing the sixth Sunday of Easter and Baptism Remembrance, is at 10 a.m. A reception honoring graduates follows worship. Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
AA meets Sunday at 5 p.m.
Men in Mission meet Monday at 7 p.m.
Recycling
The Recycling Trailer is now located behind the Carmine Hall at 300 North Hauptsrasse, which is two blocks north of Highway 290. The hours are the same: noon until 4 p.m. every Thursday.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 9 to 11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
Combined Community Action
Combined Community Action with Meals on Wheels for senior citizens meets each week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in the Mission and Ministry Building. Domino playing starts at 9 a.m. and the meal is served at 11:30 a.m. The cost is a $2 donation.
